Mission Statement
The Fair Taxation
Committee of Yates County is a group of concerned area taxpayers committed
to working in partnership with local government and public education units to
reduce the costs required to deliver their services.
The mission will be accomplished by developing innovative approaches to greater
efficiencies and to expand the tax base.
Cost Reduction Initiatives
- Working with local and state governing
bodies to adopt more cost effective methods for delivery of services they
provide, and to reduce the cost of their operations.
- Exploring cooperative initiatives
across jurisdictions to eliminate redundancies in delivery of services.
- Encourage all service providers
to establish performance measures based on best practices.
- Seeking alternative funding sources
for these services to enable a reduction in the share provided by property
taxes.
- Gathering information and data
to be used for education, special studies, planning, and "what if"
scenarios.
- Keeping all area taxpayers informed
of the tax issues of concern to them and promoting opportunities to understand
the cost implications of demanding services.
Expanding Tax Base:
- Working with local, state, and
private agencies to promote Yates County as a desirable place to live, work,
play and retire.
